Standpoint is pleased to present ‘Rendering the language of Paint’, a solo exhibition of new paintings and prints by Thea Wolf.

Thea Wolf is a London-based artist exploring the relationship between the physical and digital space, bringing together physical, metaphorical, on-screen and off-screen elements to create immersive visual experiences.

This new body of work was created during Thea’s residency at Standpoint and draws inspiration from Op Art and new technologies. Throughout the exhibition Thea focuses on the role of the viewer. How do we place ourselves in conversation with the work? Finding the right distance to feel grounded, breathe, and look inwards. What is the emotive space?

Thea has created these pieces by transcribing intuition, making use of colour, movement, texture and composition. All paintings have been translated from her digital work. The dialogue between digital print and painted canvas renders the language of paint into a unique digital form. Intuitively thinking about the slow-paced motion of wet oil paint, a pattern, a colour.

The bamboo paper on which the work is printed brings the ink to life, giving it a painterly physicality and closing the gap between her digital and physical work.

Standpoint residencies facilitate artist development and enable the production of new work in a supportive environment, encouraging artistic exchange and collective working. The residencies are designed to be flexible and responsive to the projects, needs and desired outcomes of individual participants.

Thea Wolf graduated with an MA in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London in 2025, where she also studied Virtual and Augmented Reality and AI in Art with Acute Art in 2023. Before that, Thea completed a BA in Fine Art (2017–20) and a Foundation in Fine Art (2016–17), both at UAL Camberwell.
